About
How We Work
Our Vision is Clear
All People, All Places, No Exceptions
We believe thriving is possible for everyone across race, gender, class, ability, faith, and identity. But thriving also requires us to name and confront systemic injustice. That’s why we center those most impacted—Black, Latine, and Indigenous communities; LGBTQIA2S+ people; people with disabilities; immigrants and refugees. When we uplift those voices, we uplift the whole.
Thriving doesn’t happen by chance. It’s built through care, connection, and the everyday conditions that allow people to live healthy, meaningful lives. Together, we’re working to ensure those foundations exist for everyone, everywhere.
The 7 Vital Conditions for Wellbeing and Justice
Our work is grounded in the 7 Vital Conditions for Wellbeing and Justice, a framework that reimagines what it means to live well. It helps us move beyond short-term fixes toward lasting systems change, where every person and place has what they need to flourish.
Urgent needs matter, but true thriving means going deeper to address the root causes and rebuilding systems so that care, belonging, and opportunity can grow for everyone. By addressing root causes, we unlock the power of multisolving and co-create solutions that last.
Thriving
Natural World
A healthy environment is the foundation of life. Clean air, safe water, fertile soil, and access to nature keep us grounded and protected. When the plant thrives, people thrive.
Basic Needs for Health
& Safety
Everyone deserves nutritious food, safe water, good sleep, and freedom from violence or trauma. Meeting these basic needs creates stability and resilience for individuals and families.
Meaningful Work
& Wealth
Thriving requires access to rewarding jobs, pathways to build skills, and the chance to create family and community wealth. Meaningful work fuels both economic security and purpose.
Lifelong
Learning
From early childhood through adulthood, opportunities to learn and grow keep people connected, capable, and adaptable. Lifelong learning builds confidence and opens doors to new possibilities.
Humane
Housing
Safe, affordable housing in diverse, connected neighborhoods is more than shelter—it’s a cornerstone of dignity and opportunity. Housing close to schools, work, and recreation helps families flourish.
Reliable
Transportation
Safe, affordable, and accessible ways to get where we need to go—whether to school, work, or healthcare—are critical to full participation in community life.
Belonging
& Civic Muscle
At the center of it all is belonging: feeling connected, respected, and empowered to shape our shared future. Civic muscle means we can work together, speak out, and take collective action to build the world we want.
What can we achieve if we all stand together?
A People Powered Movement
Our work is rooted in solidarity—the understanding that we rise together. By standing against oppression in all its forms and showing up for one another across differences, we build a movement strong, loving, and united enough to demand change and insist on a Forsyth County where everyone thrives.
What do people need to thrive?
Community Knows What Community Needs
Real change starts with listening. By learning directly from our neighbors, we honor their experiences, culture, and wisdom. Together, we uncover what helps, what harms, and what would make life better. This knowledge guides our collective action, ensuring systems change reflects the needs and hopes of the community.
What if we all rally behind what people need to thrive?
People-Centered Priorities
Communities define what thriving looks like. By centering the voices of those living the experience—the people closest to the challenges—we uncover what truly needs to change. We hold leaders and organizations accountable, applying pressure to ensure solutions reflect real needs and are put into action, building a community where everyone can thrive.
How do we see the bigger picture of change?
Mapping Everyone’s Contributions
Big change comes from seeing the whole picture. Across Forsyth County, hundreds of people and organizations are making life better. Mapping these efforts shows how work connects, highlights gaps, reduces duplication, and strengthens partnerships; ultimately turning good work happening in many places into shared progress that reaches everyone.
Is there a place for me in systems change work?
Connecting & Supporting Networks
Change grows through connection. Across Forsyth County, people and organizations are already working to make life better. By weaving networks, sharing knowledge, aligning actions, and using data to guide decisions, we strengthen collective impact, and build spaces where partners move together toward a community where everyone can thrive.
How do we bring our ideas to life?
Bringing Change to Life
Communities turn ideas into action. People are creating bold, practical solutions, and this movement shifts power and resources toward the people closest to the work. By investing in community-led, collaborative ideas, we meet urgent needs while building lasting conditions for everyone to thrive.
What if we could rewrite the rules?
Speaking Up, Together
Communities have the power to shape the rules that shape our lives. By coming together across housing, education, health, and work, we turn lived experience into action. Centering those most affected ensures policies build equity and create the conditions for everyone in Forsyth County to thrive.
What if we had the space to learn as we go?
Learning As We Go
Systems change doesn’t happen in a straight line. By listening, testing, and learning together, we adapt in real time to meet community needs. Emergent learning builds reflection and feedback into every step, helping us stay connected, aligned, and curious as we create lasting momentum for change.
What sustains us when the work gets hard?
Fighting for What Matters
Hope and joy are acts of resistance. They give us direction, strength, and the energy to keep believing change is possible. Through connection, celebration, art, and laughter, we sustain the long work of transformation and keep our movements human, grounded, and alive.
The challenges we face are generations deep, and so is our strength. Across Forsyth County, people are coming together with courage, creativity, and care to build a movement strong enough to demand change and hopeful enough to see it through.
This is not one project or organization. It’s all of us—parents, teachers, students, elders, neighbors, advocates, and leaders—choosing to listen, act together, and make decisions guided by the wisdom of those most affected by injustice.
Thriving is possible for all people, in all places, no exceptions. Every voice, skill, and act of care builds the collective power to reshape systems and strengthen communities.
This movement needs you. Join us, and together, we can turn hope into action and build a future where everyone thrives.
